HomeSchool Beach Academy Nosara (HSBAN) is a new educational opportunity designed by teachers for families of the Nosara area. HSBAN offers a high quality, affordable, flexible and personalized education in a full day bilingual program for children in grades 1st-12th.  It is a satelite school from a U.S. accredited private school, established since 1981, allowing students from all over the world to study and complete both U.S. and Costa Rican academic standards. Students earn an official transcript for the completion of grades 1st-12th that allows our students to re-enter private and public schools throughout the U.S. and many other countries. In addition, graduates receive a high school diploma that has been accepted to universities and colleges throughout North America and the world.

Students are immersed in both languages with 90% of the student population speaking Spanish and 88% English.  At HSBAN they promote active citizens, innovators, critical thinkers, leaders and creators. The approach to learning is hands on, investigative, collaborative and project/field based connected to the real world to make learning meaningful, engaging and relevant. HSBAN provides a unique academic program designed by teachers that combines a small class size (10 to 1 student teacher ratio) with a traditional classroom and school setting to maximize learning. Student’s strengths are recognized and teachers design lessons to meet the needs of each individual’s learning style. The studies consist of all core subjects in addition to arts, physical education and an elective following a year round modified calendar. The certified teachers offer experience and commitment to the needs of the families, children and community. Their mission is to provide access to a high quality bilingual education where students are active learners and community members who celebrate diversity and the discovery of learning.

HSBAN is located in La Joya de Esperanza and are accepting children throughout 2010-2011 academic year in addition to the “Summer” Program in July. The new academic year begins in August. Services for visiting families are also offered, such as Spanish classes, swim lessons and tutoring.
