Another beautiful day in paradise – Nosara Costa Rica

Well spring break in Costa Rica is off to a bang with a small rain the other night but we have clear and beautiful skies with great surf here in Playa Guiones. We have seen a great return to the beach with many visitors from San Jose and other areas of Costa Rica.  It is great to see a good turn out of local Costa Ricans visiting and enjoying the beach both families and surfers alike.
In the local Real Estate market things are still moving along well here in town.  We have had several properties move here in our area over the past several weeks and interest in both homes and properties have been high. One of the original homes built here in Playa Guiones sold.  This home, known as “Casa Mono Reino” was placed on the market with all proceeds going to the local Refuge “Refugio de Animales Nosara” and “Sibu Sanctuary” (view this amazing project at www.nosarawildlife.com).

Mono Reino is a beautifully preserved home made of local hardwoods ranging from “Almendro” (almond tree) to “Pachote” (Costa Rica’s Ironwood predominantly found in Guanacaste).  This spectacular home was built back in the early 1970′s and the materials were carried in by boat then transported to the local work site via Oxen and cart through the original Esperanza Trail.  Absolutely a spectacular story to have for your tropical retreat / vacation home.

Much of this market here in our area is focused on the Nosara Yoga scene and the “Walk to Surf” idea.  I remember being back in California and it seemed no matter where i lived unless it was on the ocean side of PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) it took me a minimum of 30 min to get to the beach.  So when I would go on vacation I always knew no matter what where ever I stayed I did not want to get in a car to go to the beach to surf.  If I was going to do that then I could stay home I figured.  That is much of what makes our little area so special is that there are so many beautiful different areas to be in where you can wake up surrounded by jungle and the sounds of nature and all you have to do is step out on your patio with your morning coffee and you can hear the surf.  The only thing that goes through my mind in that situation is… Today is going to be a good day.  You just know it.

Walking to your local yoga class at the nosara yoga institute (www.nosarayogainstitute.com) or heading to the beach right out front here you can feel the freshness of the jungle and then all of a sudden you pop out and see this amazing 8 kilometer long beautiful beach and fantastic surf. This is why we come here and this is what keeps drawing us back to such a special place.  You feel the good vibe of the town in the water, on the street talking to the local people and hanging out at the local cafes.

Even with inflation looming in the US and the volatile markets around the world we keep being told about on all the news channels Costa Rica continues to be a destination for travelers and people looking to start fresh.  With limited infrastructure in some of these local beach towns here in Guanacaste and other areas of Costa Rica, Nosara continues to prove every day why it is special.  With a solid locally elected board of officials monitoring and maintaining the local water system here in town.  ICE continually increasing their infrastructure to meet local demands access becomes better all the time.

Recently the Playa Guiones land prices appear to have settled and are now holding around the $200 to $150 x mt.2 price range.  Finding a lot or land in the $100 x Mt.2 range is truly a great price! Be assured.  Obviously the closer to the beach front you go the closer to the $200 range you are going to be and possibly even higher depending on the lot and configuration.  Many of the early fire sales of this year were scooped up quickly by vacationers seeing the movement in the local market.  Many of these friends and clients have been looking in our area for some time and were able to take advantage of this diverse market here in town.

Playa Pelada is one area that has really started to make a great comeback this season.  With several lots in that area right by the beach in the range of $30,000 to $45,000 for 500 mt.2 up to $100,000 for some of the Ocean Views in the area.  This has proven to be a great location for buyers looking to get into our market and find a spectacular property at a really good price leaving plenty of room in their budget to build their very own tropical paradise.

We hope you enjoyed our local update this week from the beaches of Nosara.  We hope you have a wonderful Easter week and look forward to seeing you at the beach!
